The Job: The Stanley Black & Decker Global Sourcing Management group has an opportunity for an Senior Advanced Sourcing Engineer which will be based in Suzhou, CN. At Stanley Black & Decker, Innovation and New Product Development are key strategic initiatives to grow the business and the Advanced Sourcing Engineer role will play a vital part in delivering winning New Products in the market. The position will have responsibility for providing sourcing leadership for New Product Development in a cross functional team environment, which would include Supply Selection, Cost & Capital Management, Risk Assessment & Mitigation, Supplier Management throughout the Product Development and On-Going Process Improvements to speed Product Development. You’ll get to: Early new product involvement including product spec review, supply selection and risk Mitigation Plans Work in a cross functional team environment interacting with engineering, supply chain, quality, marketing, global strategy sourcing and our global supply base Initiate the contract discussion if needed and negotiate the cost, tooling/ equipment investment, MOQ, lead time and delivery schedule with suppliers Provide deliverables to program manager with update cost BOM, capacity ramp up plan and long lead time part list etc in each Milestone process Do make versus buy analysis if needed Evaluate the supplying risk, define long lead time parts and release LLR accordingly Work with trade compliance team on a COO plan if it’s to launch outside of China as tariff mitigation Support for problem solving and manage the communication with project team and supplier to make improvements if it’s required. Ensure the efficiency during new product development Assist transition from new product development to sustainable production with Global Strategy Sourcing team after the product launch Be an active participant in the milestone process and provide timely and accurate information on project progress. Timely escalations for any delays/risks with the program leader/ASE Manager The Person: You love to learn and grow and be acknowledged for your valuable contributions. You also have: Bachelor’s degree in technical area, preferably an engineering degree. Three to five years of direct material sourcing experience. Prior purchasing, manufacturing or product development experience preferred. Basic understanding of standard cost development, financial metrics, such as investment payback, gross sales margin, and how sourcing decisions can impact project finances Ability to manage multiple projects across diverse commodities, suppliers, and business functions. Fully self-directed with leadership skills - drives for results. Ability to manage tasks and deadlines when facing ambiguous information and circumstances, and excellent organized project management skills with attention to detail Demonstrate excellent written and spoken Skills – English and Strong interpersonal communications skills.
