Department: Education and Quality Assurance Office
General Description: Senior Quality Assurance Officer is based in Education and Quality Assurance Office (EQA), which is part of the Centre of Academic Affairs. The role holder will work in the Quality Assurance Team and report to the Quality Assurance Manager. In the context of international higher education, the team will be largely responsible for Quality Assurance processes of both PRC and UK. These processes cover a wide range of areas related to academic quality and standards, as well as the procedures for government-driven, project-based initiatives aimed at enhancing academic quality.
Roles and Responsibilities: EQA operates within the quality assurance framework of the UK QAA by working closely with University of Liverpool (UoL) and also under direct guidance of Chinese educational authorities (Chinese Ministry of Education (MoE) and Jiangsu Department of Education (DoE)) in terms of national requirements for provision of academic programmes and various forms of quality assuring mechanisms and procedures. Internally, EQA works closely with all academic schools and academies to ensures that academic programmes meet international and national quality standards as evidenced by programme evaluation and/or accreditation. The responsibilities of this position shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
1. Work with the team for institutional reaccreditation by UoL; 2. Coordinate UoL Annual Monitoring Visits or desk-based reviews, as well as XJTLU’s reverse monitoring visits; 3. Manage the XJTLU Teaching Development Fund(TDF) project; 4. Lead on Degree Awarding Power application for new undergraduate programmes; 5. Draft official reports to the government authorities and the university as required; 6. Contribute to various evaluation projects on different levels, institutional, school and programme; 7. Coordinate with relevant parties for all kinds of governmental QA projects; 8. Complete other duties assigned by upper management.
Qualification Requirements:
1. A post-graduate qualification, plus more than 5 years of relevant work experience or an undergraduate qualification, plus more than 8 years of relevant work experience with evidence of successful administrative and managerial experience in an international higher education institution or organization; 2. Knowledge of Chinese higher education processes and regulations and the UK higher education system; 3. Strategic thinking and strong problem-solving skills; 4. Strong networking, organizational and communication skills; 5. Bilingual proficiency in Chinese and English; 6. A solid team player and quick learner.
