JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for mechanical engineering product design to improve product quality ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Work and collaborate closely with team to define, design, and develop ideas from concept to finished design and solve engineering problems to make products that meet all performance and functional criteria within demanding project timescales - Preparation of Bill of Material, parts/modules specifications and material specifications. Collect, develop, maintain, and organize project documentation in accordance with company’s engineering standards. - Knowledge of evaluating design margins and reliability factors (tolerances, material strength and compatibility) - Work with NPI, System Engineer and Test Engineers to facilitate assembly process and testing methods - Working with suppliers and/or internal production sites to introduce products and resolve technical issues - Investigate and determine root cause of product issues and determine appropriate resolution - Lead failure analysis on products and recommend necessary improvements to enhance product performance - Ensure design output compliant with regulatory standards and regulations for the medical device industry - Completes detailed, high quality technical documentation to capture and communicate designs. - Other duties may be assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering - At least 5 years’ mechanical design experience in automotive, machining tools, consumer, medical products, or related field
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: - Good knowledge in sheet metal and plastic enclosure - Good knowledge in testing - Solid problem solving and analytical skills - Proficient with 2D and 3D modelling software (Solid Edge) - Strong knowledge in GD&T, tolerance analysis, FEA, failure analysis, sheet metal, plastics, and rubber part design - Proactive attitude, independent, self-motivated with a strong passion for product design work. Good team player with initiative to help teammates and always ready to take on more tasks - Ability to work closely and effectively with cross-site, cross-functional teams - Responsible and able to work under pressure - Working knowledge of office management software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
