Job Description: 1. Provides safety engineering guidance and support to other disciplines, ensuring assurance of technical safety aspects in design. 2. Ensures major hazards are identified, adequately assessed, evaluated and managed in accordance with relevant statutory, client and project-specific requirements. 3. Identifies safety engineering elements and propose solutions to rectify the situation. 4. Acknowledges changes in regulatory requirements and advise relevant departments of requirements to comply. 5. Develops specifications, terms of reference and scopes of work for specific safety engineering studies. 6. Gathers necessary information and provide inputs to safety studies. 7. Develops and supports safety philosophies: Passive Fire Protection, Escape Evacuation and Rescue, ESD, Fire & Gas Detection, Fire Fighting and functional safety management: FSMP, SRS. 8. Supports the development of ESD and F&G Cause & Effect design. 9. Leads hazardous area classification studies. 10. Prepares procedures, specifications, material requisitions, and technical reports relating to safety engineering. 11. Liaises with external stakeholders (e.g. classification society) where required. 12. Organizes, participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL/LOPA, risk assessments and other safety engineering reviews and close out the recommendations and actions. 13. Coordinates formal safety assessments: Dispersion, Fire, Explosion, Dropped object, Ship collision, EER Analyses, QRA etc. 14. Provides technical guidance regarding working practice/timescale of work carried out for contracted services.
Job Requirements: 1. Degree in Engineering disciplines. 2. At least 5 years of relevant working experience in marine/ offshore industry. 3. Well versed with regulatory and class requirements. 4. Possess good communication and interpersonal skills. 5. Able to work in a team. 6. Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering design software (e.g. S3D, Autocad).
