We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Integrity Drivetrain Division as an Engineering Design, Wet Friction Material ,Design & Development in China. As a design engineer, you will be partnering with Drivetrain design and controls teams and Caterpillar’s purchasing teams to identify, evaluate, and validate clutch and brake wet friction products, processes, and systems. This position is responsible for the design, validation, and development of innovative Clutch and Brake wet friction system components and processing. Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: * Lead product and process development activities for clutch brake system design control for the Caterpillar enterprise * Work closely with Axle and Transmission Platform teams to develop wet clutch and brake component specifications and product offerings which differentiate Caterpillar Drivetrain products * Ensure product performance and quality for components including: wet friction, reaction plate. * Document and communicate requirements and results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units * Contribute to the design, development, and validation of new clutch and brakes materials * Support global teams and resources to collaborate on design, manufacturing, and sourcing efforts * Provide technical support for New Technology Introduction (NTI), New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), and Aftermarket projects * Lead matters regarding Concurrent Product and Process Development (CPPD) and Rapid Root Cause and Corrective Actions * Identify innovation and development opportunities, and develop proposals for strategic technology project funding Basic Qualifications: *Requires a college or university master degree, or technical certification *Willingness to travel up to 10% Top Candidates Will Also Have: *Master degree in Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, or Metallurgical Engineering curriculum * Prior test and product development experience * Expertise in wet friction product, and elastomer product and process development and analysis * Strong communication skills, verbal and written, complemented by the ability to develop and deliver technical presentations * Test, data collection, and analysis capabilities using Minitab and spreadsheet & analytics tools * Transmission or brake design or development experience * Project planning and costing * The ability to work or lead multiple projects simultaneously and to make sound priority decisions Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO).
