As a 6 Sigma CPI Black Belt, you will have a significant positive impact on Caterpillar’s success by facilitating the resolution of our most significant in-service reliability issues through the structured discipline of 6 sigma integrated into the Caterpillar CPI process. Through CPI project facilitation you will lead project teams from initial project definition through to implementation of resolution. Due to the scope of the role you will have the opportunity to facilitate multiple project teams with team members from all parts of our business, including our suppliers and customers.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: * Leading significantly complex CPI projects to resolve critical in-service reliability issues * Forming CPI project teams and leading project team members * Launching project teams, using good project management to manage team activities, leading teams to execute projects, tracking project status and results, removing project barriers, and developing team members * Data Analytics * Coordinating the identified improvements with the appropriate project/process owners to accomplish the project goals, other business activities and business strategy * Formulation of field support plans * Communicating progress of projects with appropriate leadership and teams and in some cases our internal and external customers * Managing risk and ambiguity on a project while driving results through change
Required skills and experience *Should have demonstrated project management skills, team leadership skills, and excellent communication skills. * Should have demonstrated strong problem-solving skills. * Should have knowledge of other functions that provide inputs to CPI resolution, i.e., Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Product Support, and Operations. * General understanding of engineering principles and diesel engines. * Must have the ability to learn and execute statistical analysis and have basic computer skills
Desired skills and experience * 6 sigma BB experience is desirable – training can be accommodated if required * Prior supervisory experience is a plus *Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or Business or an equivalent level
If not already BB trained, the successful candidate would be required to complete and successfully pass the black belt selection process with a view of them becoming fully trained as a six sigma black belt.
