BASIC FUNCTION The Screw Compressor Engineer will be focused on quality improvement, Value Analysis/Value Engineering, and new product introduction (NPI) activities. VA/VE is a technique used to deliver high product/service value to customers by reducing cost and/or improving functionality without compromising on quality. Other responsibilities will include assisting product technical support, manufacturing personnel (Factory), and other compressor & chiller engineers in the business unit globally.
NATURE AND SCOPE Execute VA/VE projects as defined by the chiller and compressor engineering teams. Revise components, assemblies and/or processes as needed to improve compressor efficiency and/or reduce cost. Based on requirements supplied by product management and chiller engineering, design new screw compressors. Interface with other compressor engineers as needed to facilitate this work. Collaborate with designers to revise/update existing drawings and bill of material (BOM) to implement quality or VA/VE improvements or to create new drawings and BOM’s for NPI projects. Be the compressor representative assigned to an 8D team or other formal quality process for screw products when customer issues are identified. what you will do 1.Execute improvement projects for quality, cost, performance, and reliability of existing screw products. 2.Collaborate with other compressors to design new screw compressors 3.Work with designers in the creation of drawings and BOM’s to implement product improvements or to support the release of new screw designs. 4.Review and approve drawings prior to release for manufacturing. 5.Lead/participate in formal problem-solving activities. 6.Be a resource for other compressor engineers in support of their VA/VE projects. 7.Assist product technical support, quality, manufacturing, compressor build room technicians, and other compressor engineers as needed to help resolve field issues. 8.Participate in the streamlining effort of internal design standards. 9.Coordinate agency approval activities (UL,CE etc.) for compressor engineering. 10.Maintains a safe working environment and supports a zero-harm culture. 11.Comply with company ethics policy, other regulation and related quality requirements. 12.Performs other duties as may be assigned.
