TITLE: ENGINEER, METAL COATING AND FINISHING FUNCTION / AREA: PRODUCT DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT / CHINA JOB SUMMARY Under supervision, working in a team environment identifies, evaluates, and works to resolve manufacturing issues in the daily production processes. Provide some leadership in the optimization and troubleshooting of existing PVD processes. Participate in engineering activities leading towards the design and implementation of PVD process improvements and the technical transfer of new products from research and development to product commercialization. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 61 Process Improvement (50%) o Provide technical knowledge to continuous improvement efforts aimed at increasing productivity and yields for all PVD processes. o Assist in the identification of new materials, methods, and tools in order to improve current PVD processes and/or equipment. o Develop understanding of production processes to identify the key process parameters related to yield and product performance. o Support the execution of studies to stabilize, characterize, and optimize key PVD process parameters. o Assist in the maintenance and support of all Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) tools for key PVD processes. 61 Day-to-day support (30%) o Conduct daily process audits of PVD processes. o Support Manufacturing in efforts to troubleshoot the manufacturing processes on a daily basis. o Develop, maintain, and update manufacturing documentation with input from appropriate functions. o Assist Manufacturing in the training of operators, technicians, and supervisors as needed. o Work with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) as needed to ensure that equipment and processes comply with applicable codes and regulations. 61 New Products (20%) o Work with Carlsbad Product Engineering Team to review and confirm that FA and Qualification components, clubs and processes meet design intent. o Work with Carlsbad Product Engineering Team to ensure process specifications, procedures, and controls related to all PVD processes of new products are well documented and communicated before launch. o Assist with creating target and limit samples as directed and confirm that all samples are available to SI before production quality inspections commence. o Provide input to Carlsbad Product Engineering Team regarding PVD processing options during the development of new products – Design for Manufacturability (DFM.) o Work to improve volume process capabilities in anticipation of new product requirements. o Provide input regarding opportunities to reduce cost for components or processes. o Assist with overseeing the product qualification processes, components and finished clubs and prepare qualification reports. FREQUENCY TASK LIST 61 Daily o Check e-mail and reply as necessary o Check voicemail and reply as necessary o Interface with CGC personnel o Provide support to manufacturing cells as needed o Review documentation for testing, changes, instructions, etc. and provide recommendations o Walk manufacturing floor and review PVD processes, focusing on areas of needed improvements. 61 Weekly o Update project timelines and summarize projects o Meet with manager to discuss results and path forward o Interface with suppliers and/or sub-contractors, including visits to existing and/or potential suppliers/sub-contractors. o Research new materials, methods, and testing o Evaluate new PVD equipment and/or processes o Review and report on the capability, efficiency and quality of components and finished clubs. 61 Monthly o Support production as needed AUTHORITY TO ACT 61 Adhere to Callaway Golf policies. 61 Individual acts under own discretion on a day-to-day basis.
