SUMMARY Kids2 is seeking a Data Engineer to assist our Enterprise Data Solutions team. The engineer will support current team objectives and projects, learning all aspects of the data solutions life cycle. The engineer collaborates with a variety of management levels on projects that contribute to the success of the team. This role uses discipline-specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to assist with various projects, presentations, and business improvement opportunities. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: > Design and maintain scalable, automated data pipelines to support business intelligence and analytics needs. > Partner closely with data analysts to understand reporting and data requirements, ensuring they have reliable access to well-structured datasets. > Optimize query performance, data models, and storage strategies to enhance reporting speed and reduce cloud/database costs. Implement data validation, anomaly detection, and governance processes to ensure data integrity and compliance. > Work with the Enterprise Data Solutions team to manage data integration projects, consolidating multiple data sources into a unified architecture. > Collaborate with IT and security teams to enforce data security, access controls, and compliance standards. > Automate data ingestion, transformation, and validation workflows to minimize manual intervention. > Support self-service analytics by developing curated datasets, semantic layers, and data marts in Power BI or other BI tools. > Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, ensuring high availability and reliability. > Document data architecture, processes, and best practices to enhance transparency and knowledge sharing. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE > 3+ years of experience in data engineering, database development, or data architecture. > Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and performance optimization in relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.). > Experience in ETL processes, data integration, and pipeline automation. > Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) and data lake architectures. > Understanding of Dimensional Modeling, Data Warehousing, and best practices for analytical reporting. > Experience working with APIs and batch data ingestion. > Ability to optimize data workflows for self-service analytics, reducing dependence on engineering teams for basic data access. > Knowledge of Power BI or other data visualization tools is a plus. > Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on improving efficiency and scalability. EDUCATION & SKILLS > Bachelor’s degree in computer science, analytics, engineering, math, statistics, information system, data science or a related discipline. > Working experience spanning at least two IT disciplines, including technical architecture, application development, database management, business analytics information system, or operations.
