Day to Day Responsibilities: Review the existing facility power system design standards including drawings, identify gaps and deficiencies and update to the latest industrial practice. Develop new design standards and specifications including drawings for the facility power system per the latest international or GB codes and practices and Corning specific requirements. Support facility system maintenance and operation strategy and standard development. Learn from events and activities and support optimizing operation procedures and set ups Specify, review, analyze power systems and equipment and oversee the installation, commissioning and/or decommissioning when necessary. Scoping and execution of power engineering projects, for both new construction and existing facilities. Perform and/or review power system studies, short circuit analysis and relay coordination studies for CDT facility-utility interconnection and internal power distribution systems. Conduct root cause analysis of power system or equipment failures and provide solutions and recommendation. Work in collaboration with project managers, equipment suppliers, facility managers, and other project partners. Supporting energy saving, green transformation, cost reduction projects as needed. Evaluate reliability and stability of other system’s design/operation that interfaces with facility power systems or core manufacturing process. Education & Experience: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in power and/or electrical engineering preferred. Minimum 5 years working experience in electrical power system design, commissioning, and/or maintenance of large, complex electrical power systems. Licensed or Certified as a Professional Engineer with a focus in Electrical Power Systems preferred. Required Skills: Good understanding of industrial electrical systems, electrical power substation, grounding and lightning protection system. Good understanding of the relevant GB codes for HV - MV power systems. Good understanding of the GIS/MTR /DGA system . Experienced in reading and generating electrical primary and secondary drawings. Familiar with complex electrical system design and analysis, including: o Short circuit current studies o Protection and coordination (P&C) studies Experienced in AutoCAD drawing. Able to support/witness electrical equipment installation, testing and commissioning of electrical equipment and electrical systems(HV&MV equipment preferred). Good written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese. Basic project management skills, e.g. scope, cost, management, etc. Able work independently and directly with project customers to define project scope, identify project requirements and deliverables and satisfy objectives/timelines with a minimal amount of supervision. Desired Skills: Experienced in the operation and maintenance of electrical system/equipment and familiar with electrical equipment, e.g. MV-SWGR, LV-SWBD, diesel generator, motor, UPS, ATS/CTTS, protection relay/breaker, on-site generation, lightning arrestor, etc. Knowledge and experience in other facility systems, e.g. Control, PA, H2O, CDA, Chiller, HVAC and etc. Knowledge and experience with alternate power sources, e.g. solar, wind, energy storage and etc. Experience in root cause failure analysis of electrical system equipment. Project management skills using MS Project, e.g. scheduling, reporting, tracking. Familiar with FMEA for root cause and solutions determination. Understanding of electrical safety, including OSHA 1910 Subpart S and NFPA 70E. Experience in electrical 3D modeling such as PDMS. SolidWorks.P3D or E3D. Soft Skills: Problem analytical and solving skills. Self-initiative and leadership. Ability to manage multiple tasks, managing priorities and meeting deadlines. Cross-cultural sensitivity: Ability to work in a diversity team-based environment and participate on a matrix project team as a good team player. Good communication and interpersonal skills, building cross functional relationship.
