Job Description We are seeking a passionate and skilled “Sustainability Materials Engineer” to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and optimizing materials to support our sustainability goals. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative solutions that align with circular economy principles and reduce our environmental footprint.
Key Responsibilities - Research and develop sustainable materials, including bio-based, recyclable, and biodegradable options. - Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to evaluate the environmental impact of materials and processes. - Collaborate with design, engineering, and supply chain teams to select materials that meet sustainability criteria. - Optimize manufacturing processes to minimize waste, energy consumption, and emissions. - Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to sustainable materials. - Lead or contribute to projects focused on material innovation, recycling technologies, and eco-design. - Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for stakeholders. - Support compliance with environmental regulations and certifications (e.g., REACH, RoHS, ISO 14001).
Qualifications
Education - Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. - Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is a plus.
Experience - 2 years of experience in materials research, development, or engineering, preferably in sustainability-focused roles. - Hands-on experience with sustainable material development, recycling technologies, or renewable materials. - Familiarity with green certifications and eco-labeling systems is a plus.
Technical Skills - Strong knowledge of material properties (polymers, metals, ceramics, composites, etc.). - Experience with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools (e.g., SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA) is preferred. - Familiarity with data analysis, modeling, and simulation software (e.g., MATLAB, CAD) is a plus. - Understanding of environmental regulations and standards (e.g., REACH, RoHS, ISO 14001).
Soft Skills - Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. - Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams. - Innovative mindset with a passion for sustainability. - Project management skills to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Certifications (Preferred) - LEED accreditation, Certified Sustainability Professional (CSP), or similar credentials. - Training in sustainability methodologies (e.g., Cradle to Cradle, ISO 14040/44).
