1. Responsible for planning, directing, controlling, co-coordinating the activities in Engineering Department, such as the operation and maintenance of all electrical and mechanical equipment used in air-conditioning, heating, refrigeration, water supply, building facilities and power center of the entire hotel. Also responsible for repairs and preventive maintenance utilizing such shops as paint, carpentry, electrical and furniture.

2. Develops and implements systems and procedure of the preventive maintenance and repair of all machines, equipment, apparatus and fixtures used in the hotel.

3. Co-ordinates all activities of Engineering personnel to ensure completion of projects and meeting deadlines or schedules.

4. Responsible for all training of personnel according to established procedures and standards.

5. Holds regular meetings with departments to review methods and procedures, plan for changes and co-ordinate special projects.

6. Submits to higher management periodic reports on breakdowns, repairs, operating cost, utility consumption etc. Advises and confers management on effective use of heat, light and power and proper application of repair and maintenance plans and procedures.

7. Ensures hotel’s compliance with government requirements on records, permits, licenses, etc.

8. Makes periodic inspection tours to check work progress and condition of building and equipment. Confers with outside contractors on installations and repairs, co-coordinating their work with department staff.

9. Works closely with other departments on consideration of new and replacement equipment, furniture, building materials, new construction and building alterations. Determines cost of recommended charges for budget purposes.

10. Prepares for approval of higher management, cost-saving measures in the area of Engineering, upon approval ensures that these are implemented.

11. Prepares procedures for emergency cases such as fires.

12. Establishes and administers proper work performance records and reports, inventory controls, work order procedures and allocation or charges. Closely administers work force assignments and payroll control.

13.Performs other duties that may be required of a Departmental Head.

1. Holder of engineering licences which may be required by local laws

2. Minimum 10 years’ experience as professional engineer and at least 3 years’ in a hotel

3. Possess technical and managerial expertise. Knowledgeable in all regulations such as building codes, fire and health department ordinances.
