Position Description Summary (Position purpose, Geographical scope):
Lead application development activities for Specialty Films in APAC related to TPU films in particular the Consumer & Industrial Solutions (CIS) and Mobility segments, to maintain and generate substantial new opportunities by initiating and managing new projects and application areas and supporting direct and downstream customers in the processing and application of Covestro film materials. In addition, you will help to position technical expertise as a key differentiator of Covestro in the market.
Major Tasks:
1. Acting as TPU Film expert in CIS & Mobility in APAC region, drive related application & business growth via offering technical expertise and know-how, initiating new opportunities, generating technical insights and application process, partnering with value chain players, and develop Covestro go-to-market innovative solutions with identified technical differentiator.
2. Closely collaborate with SF APAC business development & sales functions and align with the regional segment strategies and respective growth plans, in particular with regard to the targeted key applications such as Kites, Textile in CIS and Seating, Blinder in Mobility.
3. Drive technical development projects by understanding customer needs and translating Voice of the Customer (VOC) into Critical to Quality (CTQ), and lead application & technical benchmarking study in CIS & Mobility industries.
4. Offer TPU film technical support for the customers, incl. technical advisory in product design, tooling design, processing, onsite trouble shooting, complaint handling and so on.
5. Initiate and lead competitive product analysis to build up technical intelligence and identify Covestro competitive advantage.
6. Lead responsible segments’ New Product Request (NPR) projects, covering from initiation, technical evaluation, communication, and drive cross-regional, cross-functional project team to deliver and meet customer needs.
7. Anticipate technology development trends in the TPU film processing industry for CIS & Mobility segments, interpret the material needs to develop Covestro future product portfolio.
8. Foster CE solutions within the industry such as (partially) bio-based TPU Film.
9. Create a unique Covestro position to be protected by IP.
Value Added:
Contribution to long-term SF APAC strategy including sales and profit growth within COV Specialty Films through innovative solutions and technical customer support in Asia, specific focus on the TPU film technology related to two segments Mobility and Consumer & Industrial Solutions (CIS), and identification of new application developments in market and product adjacencies.
Qualifications:
? PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Polymer Chemistry or related disciplines
? 1-3 years' experience working in the plastic field, ideally TPU synthesis, Textile, Mobility or Consumer Electronics
? Good knowledge in plastics films processing, particularly in TPU films fabrication, printing and forming will be a plus
? Strategic & creative innovation mindset is a must
? Great communication and interpersonal skill to facilitate cross-function & cross-region interactions
? Good language skill in English
? Able to work independently
? Willing to travel frequently
