Designation: MANAGER, OCEAN FREIGHT Position description: Manage Ocean Freight Operations. Responsible for assigned Ocean Freight Profit and Loss. Responsibilities: - Manage import, export, billing and customs processes and procedures of the Ocean freight business. - Responsible for day to day decision making and handling of escalations. - Coordinate with agents, carriers, vendors, overseas offices, COE and customers to ensure smooth transactions. - Ensure customer satisfaction is maintained at all level of operations. - Manage capacity and procurement strategy and execution in alignment with GFS strategy. - Ensure that financial management, billing, and invoicing are carried out in a timely manner. - Develop and implement productivity enhancements for Ocean Freight Operations. - Actively engages in freight system digitalization initiatives throughout the network. - Support corporate initiative for the Ocean Solution. - Selection of Carriers / Agents and negotiate rates & pricing. - Promote / sell the Ocean Solution against a target customer list and assist local sales effort through joint customers calls, bids and proposal preparation. - Participate and take lead in project bids and execution. - Monitor KPIs and provide feedback to Management on product status and needs. - Contribute to the identification of specific business opportunities and participate in development of new modified service offering. - Ensure company policies & procedures, confidentiality, legal and ethical guidelines, such as Delegation of Authority are clearly communicated and adhered to. - Coach and guide junior team members to ensure development and succession planning. - Observe and abide by the TVS-QIMM-01.6 Roles, Responsibilities and Authorities outline in the QEHS Manual. Educational qualifications preferred - Category: Degree - Field specialization: Logistics, Supply Chain Management or equivalent Required work experience - Industry: Logistics, Supply Chain Management or equivalent. - Years of experience: 10 to 12 Required Competencies: - Strong knowledge of Pricing for Ocean Cargo Service & Operations. Good knowledge of International Trade Legislation Compliance. - Working knowledge of Financial Reporting. Strong Customer Management. Good knowledge of Freight Management Systems including Cargowise, local customs & trade portals. Required Knowledge: - Strong People Management & Development, Strong Change Management, Strong Strategic Planning & Execution. Required Skills: - Strong Teamwork, Strong Communication, Strong Decision Making. Required abilities - Other: Good working relationships with customers, shipping lines & agents.
