Overall Job Purpose The Director of Airfreight is responsible for overseeing the development and growth of the Airfreight product across the Greater China region. The role will have responsibility as the subject matter expert for Airfreight products and services, leading operational and commercial strategies to meet the company's objectives. The role requires a strong focus on procurement, network development, Gateway operations, and relationship management, with the ability to continually improve processes to meet internal and external customer requirements.
Main Tasks & Key Responsibilities
1.Shaping our Airfreight product portfolio and driving the Airfreight GP Growth within the Greater China Area 2.Setting up the procurement structure for the Greater China Area within the global framework 3.Growing the relationships with partners such as airline carriers or trucking partners in the respective region and act as a sponsor for certain carriers on global level 4.Ownership of tariffs, pricing tools and rate applications utilized in airfreight, to improve standardization and competitiveness 5.Development of digital product offerings 6.Support execution of the commercial strategy across the Area 7.Drive competitive pricing strategies and identify best solutions to maximize profitability for Airfreight products, both regionally and in supporting local countries 8.Creates and executes sales campaigns as required to help business development 9.Responsibility for overall Area pricing strategies of any RFQ/Tender requests, along with checking country inputs and consolidating complete and final sign-off for any submissions 10.Strong interaction with Sales communities (country & regional) to ensure necessary training and or requirements are fulfilled to support business conversion 11.Regular pipeline reviews with Sales communities to help build mutual strategies to open new opportunities 12.Ongoing review of customer trading to review low-margin accounts and how to expand trading for current accounts 13.Take active involvement in bringing Airfreight expertise into Customer discussions 14.Develop and agree on trade lanes to help maximize existing base loads and increase profitability (focus on what type of cargo is required and support business plans to acquire such) 15.Improved communication on Airfreight Products throughout the organization 16.Training and development of internal airfreight stations on commercial strategies required to advance the region 17.Must be able to travel, be aware of overseas cultures, markets and represent SGL Airfreight products as required 18.Regularly provide market updates and industry developments to internal and external audiences 19.Improved speed to market, ease of pricing strategies throughout the region
Qualifications 1.Extensive knowledge of Airfreight forwarding business 2.Ability to cope with multiple tasks in parallel, particularly RFQs 3.Previous experience in overseas markets essential 4.Strong analytical skills, with excellent capability in Microsoft Excel 5.Commercial experience and capabilities (comfortable in front of customers) 6.Ability to work under pressure 7.Strong problem-solving skill set 8.Pleasant personality and a good team player 9.Good communication and interpersonal skills (an ability to build business relationships with vendors, customers and co-workers) 10.Able to work independently and the same time, be part of a highly successful team 11.Entrepreneurial skills
