Your role: This position is responsible for developing and maintaining analytical capabilities and practices for the Electronics Technology Center, China (ETCC). The role involves leading and managing the analytical labs at ETCC, initially focusing on lab operations to analyze various products and materials from our Business Fields (BF) in both semiconductor materials and display sectors. Additionally, this position will develop and manage an analytical team to support the sampling/pilot production modules (Planarization & Thin Films) at ETCC and facilitate the transfer of analytical methods to High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) facilities and vice versa. Furthermore, the incumbent will collaborate with counterparts in analytical groups at global and BF levels of our company to establish the next-generation analytical roadmap and develop collaborations or evaluations for key techniques required for future analytical needs. The role will also involve supporting issues and inquiries from customers, operations, quality, and business areas, including direct engagement with customers. Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills are essential for this position. The incumbent will lead the establishment of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), ensure quality and analytical transfers, and promote a safety-*** culture. This position will also focus on building and ensuring alignment with both China and global teams on customer quality, while being accountable for cross-functional leadership as one of the senior leaders in ETCC. The role will ensure positive working relationships among leaders of Business Technology Management, Integrated Account Management, Technical Service, Customer Fulfillment/Integrated Supply Chain, and other functional leaders in the semiconductor materials Business Unit Leadership Team (BULT) and display business leadership team in China. Nature and Scope: The position will be based in Shanghai and will report directly to the Head of ETCC, Semiconductor Materials BU in China. The incumbent will be accountable for the operations of the analytical lab, overseeing all aspects of activities to ensure safe execution, adherence to quality standards, and prompt responses to customers in China. Dimensions: - Average Annual Portfolio: n.a. - Number of Direct Reports (approximate): 7 - Overall Supervision (approximate): 7 Principal Accountabilities: - Manage the analytical team with established development plans for each chemist, enabling them to reach their full potential. - Provide technical leadership and program direction to operators. - Accountable for supporting customer quality troubleshooting requests for Thin Film, Patterning, Planarization, and Specialty Gases products in China. - Accountable for supporting OLED/Display troubleshooting analytical requests. - Identify metrology and characterization tools as required to support commercial/new products to meet customer needs, ensuring a strong technical understanding of key performance and quality factors. - Ensure consistency in processes followed at different locations, facilitating cross-group/site sharing and leading continuous improvement activities related to analytics. - Develop capital plans and manage the execution of analytical capital projects. - Participate in intellectual property development. - Champion safety by ensuring that the analytical team follows our company’s safety policies and adheres to best safety practices. Job Requirements: - M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry or related scientific fields. - ≥ 7 years of working experience in key areas of analytical or R&D in semiconductor, display, and adjacent industries. - Broad knowledge of various analytical techniques for characterizing materials and formulated products. - A proven track record of managing technical activities, teams, and building internal/external relationships with stakeholders and customers. - Strong verbal and written communication skills in English preferred for customer and internal communications. - Flexibility to participate in conference calls across time zones. - Team player, self-motivated, willing to learn, and possessing a can-do attitude. - Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills preferred.
