· Serve as a technical expert in the field of mechanical engineering, providing technical solutions and engineering specifications. Lead the standardization of the mechanical design process, optimizing and promoting best practices. · Take the lead in planning and executing key projects, including system architecture strategy, engineering proposals, and mechanical design, development, qualification, and validation. Ensure that the system meets required functionality, performance, safety, and quality standards, following the company's Product Commercialization Process (***) and CIC mechanical engineering process. · Ensure on-time delivery of assigned projects, meeting specifications, and staying within the target cost. Develop robust engineering plans encompassing quality, cost, schedule, and risk assessment. Provide regular progress reports. · Take ownership of sustaining existing products and drive resolution of high-priority issues. Develop and implement long-term corrective and preventive action plans to effectively address these issues. · Approach problems in a rational manner, utilizing efficient tools to ensure a comprehensive understanding and effective resolution. · Contribute to team growth by building technical depth and promoting knowledge sharing across product lines. · Foster a culture of learning by organizing technical training sessions, addressing technical gaps, and contributing to the development of the technical pipeline. · Establish seamless interfaces with sourcing, operations, quality, service, and global R&D teams, as well as external suppliers, vendors, and customers. · Process Custom RFQ work and provide support on Custom order job files to drive business success.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 7 years of related experience, or Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years of related experience. · Proficiency in using 3D CAD software, specifically Solidworks. · Demonstrated expertise in applying DFx (manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, safety, cost) knowledge to mechanical designs, with expert knowledge in at least two of the following areas: sheet metal, machining, plastic and die casting. Familiarity with related materials, processes, and local supplier capability. · Deep knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and experience with tolerance analysis. · Demonstrated ability to develop solid engineering solutions to complex problems using industry-leading tools, with a deep understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Design of Experiment (DOE), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). · Comfortable working effectively in ambiguous situations with cross-functional teams. · Highly self-motivated, able to work independently and/or lead junior engineers on projects. · Strong sense of accountability, a "can-do" attitude, and a result-oriented mindset. · Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications: · Mechanical design experience with mechanical system layout/integration and power transmission/auto-motion system development is a plus. · Design experience in scientific / analytical instruments preferred. · Experience working in a matrix reporting environment preferred. · Experience in design of scientific and industrial instrumentation. · Proficiency in MechWorks and DBWorks.
