61being actively involved in reviewing curriculum needs and, in consultation with the Head of Science, to select courses that are appropriate to the needs of our students; 61 developing and managing courses and practical assessments in line with exam board specifications, including preparation of such and supervision of students during such assessments; 61 attending regular subject meetings of Biology/MS Science Project staff at which curriculum planning, student progress, and teaching and learning needs are discussed and good practice can be shared; 61 engaging in peer assessments of teaching as requested, sharing best-practice and being open to new ideas; 61 taking part in the school’s rota of duties such as corridor supervision, supervision of detention etc.; 61 managing Biology resources effectively; 61 implementing the department’s Health and Safety policy, including, in consultation with the Executive Principal, sharing in the development and updating of all relevant risk assessments; 61 implementing departmental targets and producing a self-assessment report each year; 61 ensuring that students hoping to study Biology or other related subjects at university are well-prepared, by participating in the continued development of an additional programme of study; 61 providing predicted grades and comments to support university applications 61 enriching the curriculum within the subject. This might mean inviting speakers to the school or taking students on external visits; 61 thorough planning, preparation and clear presentation of lessons; 61 initiating, facilitating and moderating classroom discussions; 61 evaluating and grading students’ work, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of students’ progress and development; 61 researching new topic areas, maintaining up-to-date subject knowledge, and devising and writing new curriculum materials; 61 selecting and using a range of different learning resources and equipment; 61 preparing students for qualifications, including external examinations as required; 61 sharing in the management of whole-school student behaviour in the classroom and on school premises; 61 participating in regular departmental and relevant management meetings, INSET, school training events, observation and professional review in order to maximise the quality of teaching; 61 acting as Tutor to a group of students; 61 writing regular, informative and individual reports on students for parents or for references to schools overseas; 61 attending parents’ evenings (usually annual) and any other required parental meeting; 61 promoting the general well-being of students and communicating with Heads of Grade and/or the appropriate Tutor; 61 participating in and organizing extracurricular activities as appropriate and as required by the Senior Management; 61 undertaking an evening duty on rotation based on the requirement of the School 61 supporting the schools’ Marketing and Admissions teams as required, by for example writing and marking occasional entrance tests, attending student recruitment events and contributing comments or short articles for the school’s WeChat account as requested from time to time. 61 other tasks related assigned by the Line Manager.
