工作职责:
1. 领导和管理:
o 全面负责教学部门的日常管理和发展。
o 通过支持教师的持续专业发展,确保全校教学和学习的高标准。
o 领导对教学人员的年度评估,并积极参与校长和高级领导团队领导的个人评估。
o 在全校营造积极的专业发展文化,并致力于不断改进。
2. 教学工作:
o 通过长远规划、定期监测和适当干预,监督教学质量,较大限度地发挥每个学生的潜能。
o 与质量监督协调员合作,保持卓越的教学标准。
o 确保课后作业的统一布置和高质量的反馈。
o 与英语作为第二语言(ESL)协调员合作,支持有效的英语作为第二语言(ESL)实践的整合,以提供一个强大的、沉浸式的英语环境。
3. 学生进步和课程监管:
o 在数据协调员的帮助下,监控和跟踪学生的学习进度,必要时实施干预措施。
o 监督课程变更和退学情况,确保遵循合理的程序。
o 监督所有校外考试,与考试官协调,确保学生成绩准确无误。
o 建议和审查课程更新,力求评估、报告和学术标准的统一。
4. 学术发展:
o 主持学术课程小组会议,编辑年度课程报告。
o 协助教师将评估工具与课程目标相匹配,并为各科目的教科书审查提供支持。
o 作为教职员工的资源,推荐相关的专业发展机会、工作坊和外部演讲人。
o 与其他独立学校的课程主任建立联系,了解发展趋势和优秀的实践。

Position Title: Head of Teaching & Learning
Reporting To: Headmaster
Department: Academic Department
Location: Lucton School Shanghai (Full Boarding School)
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
1. Education & Qualifications:
o Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
o Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
o Proven experience in a leadership role within an educational setting, ideally in an international or independent school environment.
o Extensive experience in teaching, with a strong understanding of curriculum development and educational standards.
o Demonstrable experience in monitoring and improving teaching quality and student outcomes.
o Experience in coordinating and administering external examinations.
o Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, with a focus on curriculum design and delivery.
o Previous experience in leading professional development and evaluating teaching standards.
o Experience in working within a boarding school environment is highly desirable.
2. Skills & Competencies:
o Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage a diverse community.
o Familiarity with international pedagogy and best practices in teaching and learning.
o Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including staff, students, parents, and external partners.
o Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management abilities to oversee the academic department and foster a culture of positive professional development.
o Curriculum Expertise: In-depth understanding of curriculum design, assessment practices, and academic standards.
o Data Analysis: Ability to analyze student progress data and implement effective interventions.
o Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with teachers, students, parents, and external stakeholders.
o Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues related to teaching, curriculum, and student progress.
o Cultural Awareness: Awareness of multicultural education dynamics, especially in a Chinese setting, to promote internationalism within the school's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Management:
o Take full responsibility for managing and developing the Academic department on a daily basis.
o Ensure high standards of teaching and learning across the school by supporting the ongoing professional development of teachers.
o Lead the annual evaluation of teaching staff and actively participate in personal evaluations led by the Headmaster and Senior Leadership Team.
o Foster a culture of positive professional development and a commitment to continuous improvement throughout the school.
2. Teaching and Learning:
o Oversee the quality of teaching through long-term planning, regular monitoring, and appropriate interventions to maximize each student's potential.
o Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Coordinator to maintain excellent standards in teaching and learning.
o Ensure the consistent setting and high-quality feedback of homework.
o Support the integration of effective English as a Second Language (ESL) practices, working with the ESL Coordinator to provide a strong, immersive English environment.
3. Student Progress and Curriculum:
o Monitor and track student progress with the help of data coordinators, implementing interventions where necessary.
o Oversee course changes and withdrawals, ensuring appropriate procedures are followed.
o Supervise all external examinations, coordinating with exam officers to ensure accurate student entries.
o Recommend and review curriculum updates, aiming for uniformity in assessment, reporting, and academic standards.
4. Curriculum Development:
o Chair academic curriculum committee meetings and prepare an annual report on the curriculum.
o Assist teachers in matching assessment tools to curriculum goals, and support textbook reviews across departments.
o Serve as a resource for staff, recommending relevant professional development opportunities, workshops, and external speakers.
o Network with curriculum directors from other independent schools to stay abreast of trends and best practices.
5. Health, Safety, and Well-being:
o Ensure all health and safety requirements are met for staff and students.
o Support the co-curricular program and pastoral system, creating a balanced and nurturing educational environment.
6. Community Engagement and Parental Involvement:
o Build strong links with the local community and encourage parental involvement in school activities, such as parent-teacher conferences.
o Promote the school's multicultural ethos and international mission.
7. Other Duties:
o Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Headmaster.
