To source the best possible cost from Carriers so that we can provide our Sales and Operations with competitive pricing to win more businesses for BDP. This position reports jointly to Managing Director China and Global Head of Ocean Procurement. Key Job Description Together with the Global Head of Ocean Procurement, assist in setting strategies and policies for our Ocean business in China and be in line with our corporate direction. To take care of specific ocean trade lanes and manage the daily running of the regional trade desks’ teams as assigned by the Director. To provide monthly volume report for respective trade lanes under your care. To provide analysis/ explanations for loss trade lanes, whenever required, and to review how to mitigate or eradicate the loss. To establish a strong relationship with our partner carriers. To work with our carriers to procure the best possible rates to win a business. To act as the subject matter expert (SME) for the trade lanes under our region’s care and to provide pricing guidance and market intelligence to our internal stakeholders. To collaborate with our regional sales in providing competitive and customized freight solutions for all cross-trade rates’ requests. To assist in resolving regional rates’/ contracts’ disputes with carriers, when needed. To work with our country operations and procurement teams in resolving/mitigating Liners’ issues whenever necessary. To collaborate and synergies with our country procurement teams to share and compare freight rates from both regional and local carriers. To endeavor to achieve a good yield per TEU for our newly secured/existing business through renegotiation with our liners as an ongoing process. To endeavor to grow our trade lane volumes under our region’s care through helping our Sales to secure more businesses with our competitive pricing and customized solution. To file rates with our regional carriers for all new businesses. To work with our carriers to secure space allocation and long-term rates based on NAC strategy, where applicable. To adhere to our preferred carrier strategy where applicable and feasible, without adversely compromising our yield. To attend Global / Regional Tender Kick-Off calls. To analyze, review and price strategically for regional/ global tenders for respective trade lanes under your control. Work with our Regional/Global Tender Management Team on postmortem of RFQs for continuous strategic improvements. Any other tasks as assigned by your superior. Requirements Diploma/ Tertiary qualifications in supply chain/logistics. At least 10 to 15 years of ocean freight forwarding experience, preferably in pricing procurement. A team player who is self-motivated and with good interpersonal skills. A confident individual with effective verbal and written communication skills. A persistent individual with good negotiation skills. A resilient individual who can work under pressure. Excellent relationships with Asia-headquartered carriers. Conversant in MS skills, especially in using EXCEL spreadsheet
