With its fast expansion of Mainland China businesses, we are now looking for a proactive and high caliber candidate for the position of “Commerical Director – Offline Retail” to lead and develop business strategies for Moleskine’s high-growth offline retail channel, encompassing both direct retail stores and point-of-sale locations within partner stores. This role is critical for driving sales, maximizing commercial opportunities, and ensuring a sustainable and profitable business model in Mainland China. This role will report directly to the Head of Greater China and base in Mainland China. Commercial Director – Offline Retail (based in Shanghai) Main tasks - Develop and oversee the strategy, goals, and full P&L for the offline retail channel, including direct and partner stores - Lead and mentor the retail team to deliver a best-in-class retail and partner store model, achieving top performance metrics in both quantitative and qualitative measures - Build and maintain long-term relationships with key landlords and existing partners by understanding their specific business needs. Establish annual targets and prepare joint business plans for key drivers - Identify and explore potential direct store locations and strategic channel partners in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to enhance offline market share - Drive retail activities, enhance the consumer experience journey, and implement member loyalty programs by adapting to the rapidly evolving retail landscape unique to Mainland China - Ensure strict adherence to brand representation and promotion across the offline network - Coach and develop key account team members, focusing on career progression and succession planning - Work closely with marketing, logistics, HR, finance, and headquarters to align on category strategies, channel trends, and customer needs - Prepare regular business reviews and presentations supported by comprehensive data analysis - Engage in key projects in collaboration with the HQ and APAC region
Requested skills 61 Over 10 years of sales management experience in premium lifestyle brands, with robust expertise in retail management and key accounts (e.g., bookstores, multi-brand retailers, travel retail), including full P&L responsibility 61 Strong understanding of retail trends and consumer behavior in Mainland China 61 Experience in other business channels such as e-commerce and B2B is a plus 61 Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, confidently managing relationships at all organizational levels 61 Strong business acumen with the ability to think strategically and provide thought leadership; adept at working under pressure and with limited resources 61 Highly organized, results-driven, and analytical, with a customer-centric approach and exceptional communication and presentation skills 61 Willingness to drive business turnaround initiatives 61 Flexibility to travel within the market as needed 61 Fluent in both written and spoken English and Mandarin
