About the Job: Provides direction and guidelines to the Global Business Services (GBS) General Ledger group for various countries. Ensures establishment and effectiveness of internal controls, oversight of U.S. and local GAAP accounting treatment and timely support to internal customers (i.e. Corporate Controllers).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provides leadership and support to GBS General Ledger supervisors and staff including proactive GAAP accounting guidance, troubleshooting support, and issue escalation - Ensures establishment and effectiveness of internal controls - Performs financial analysis; validates explanations provided by Supervisors - Performs appropriate Financial Certifications - Provides tactical direction to GBS General Ledger supervisors and teams in performance of General Ledger and related processes - Coordinates and integrates across process areas - Ensures timeliness and accuracy of general ledger accounting activities including journal entries, recurring entries and accruals, allocations, and related transactions and reporting - Authorizes period close and open of new period - Troubleshoots escalated issues, makes decisions, communicates and escalates as appropriate - Oversees time management processes (e.g., time approval, scheduling, etc.) - Coordinates and liaises closely with Regional and Corporate Finance as well as operations management as appropriate - Leads and supports continuous improvement processes/projects - Completes General Ledger supervisor responsibilities (as necessary and appropriate)

REQUIREMENTS: Education - CPA or bachelor’s degree in accounting - Master of finance or accounting is preferred. Working experience - At least 7 years progressive experience in an accounting function with 3 years directly related managerial experience. - Experience in a finance shared services organization is preferred. - Experience developing and implementing processes, procedures, systems and or standards is preferred. - Previous experience manufacturing company is preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Expert proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook) - CPA or equivalent preferred - Proficiency in SAP S4 - Ability to manage periodic General Ledger closing - Fluent in English (required) and Japanese (preferred)
