Senior Legal Counsel to oversee commercial legal affairs, to include intellectual property protection, anti-counterfeiting, and brand enforcement in the footwear retail sectors; commercial contracts dealing with retail licensing and distribution; oversight on local property issues; privacy laws; consumer complaints and local litigation matters.
Responsibilities: Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Industry-Tailored Legal Strategy: 61 Implementing compliance frameworks suitable for the China business of a global retail business. 61 Provide legal guidance to China business across all of its activities.
- IP & Design Protection: 61 Assist in management of intellectual property rights in the China market.
- Comprehensive Legal Management 61 Review and optimize group-wide contracts (e.g., supplier agreements, distribution contracts, pop-up store leases, co-branding agreements), ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal compliance, with a focus on risk mitigation in cross-border supplier partnerships, franchising, and limited-edition product launches 61 Advise on legal structuring and negotiation for critical transactions (e.g., brand acquisitions, regional licensing), ensuring enforceable terms and risk allocation. - Corporate Governance & Internal Control: 61 Collaborate with finance and internal audit teams to strengthen internal controls against risks such as bribery and related-party transactions.
- Dispute Resolution & Crisis Management: 61 Handle diverse legal disputes (commercial breaches, labor disputes, consumer class actions), managing litigation/arbitration strategies and external counsel. 61 Lead emergency response to legal crises (e.g., product safety incidents, supply chain scandals), minimizing brand reputation damage.
- Leadership: 61 Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to stakeholders.
Qualifications: 61 Bachelor of Law 61 LLB or above, admitted to practice law in China. Familiarity with China/EU/US/APAC legal systems is a plus. 61 At least 8 years of experience in leading Law firms, and/or fashion/luxury/retail sectors 61 Understanding of fashion industry operations (supply chain, e-commerce, brand marketing) and associated legal risks. 61 Experience collaborating with law enforcement (economic crime units, customs), international alliances (IACC), and monitoring agencies (OpSec, Red Points). 61 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 61 Excellent communication and presentation skills 61 Fluency in English and Chinese
