Major task/responsibility:
Plan and conduct advanced GPC analyses to determine molecular weight distributions of wide range of materials, supporting cross product development, quality control and production registration initiatives.
Plan and perform spectroscopic analyses (including FTIR, UV/VIS) to characterize variety of materials in support of R&D projects and competitor product analysis.
Develop and optimize analytical methods to meet specific R&D needs of different BEs, improving product development efficiency and accuracy.
Analyze and interpret complex analytical data, preparing comprehensive reports for R&D teams and BEs. Apply digitalization tools to optimize data analysis workflows, enhancing analytical efficiency and insight generation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges and support innovation projects across Covestro's business units.
Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to quality standards.
Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices within the laboratory.
Manage lab stocks and lab wastes well to ensure smooth operation.
Qualification:
Master's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field; or Bachelor's degree with minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
Minimum of 3 years/Master (or 5 years/Bachelor) of experience in analytical chemistry, with a strong focus on GPC and spectroscopic techniques.
In-depth knowledge of polymer characterization and analysis methods. Extensive hands-on experience with GPC, IR, FTIR UV/VIS, instrumentation.
Proven track record in method development and optimization for polymer analysis.
Strong data analysis skills, including proficiency in relevant software packages.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Good communication skills, with the ability to present complex analytical results clearly in local or cross-regional meeting.
Willingness to adapt to new technologies and continuously improve digital skills. Basic digitalization and AI skills including Python programming would be plus.
Be familiar with LIMS or SAP system.
