Key Responsibilities: 1. Customs Risk Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with customs authorities. Proactively identify and mitigate customs compliance risks to protect the company, especially for the on-going US/China trade tensions. Ensure business continuity and prevent any operational disruptions by handling customs matters in a professional manner. 2. Internal Audits and Process Optimization: Develop and implement internal control processes based on lessons learned. Continuously optimize the company's import/export Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and procedures. Act as the company’s customs compliance expert and internal trade consultant. Provide professional trade services to the business, including duty savings, new product implementation, Free Trade Agreements (FTA), tariff disputes, and localization projects. Etc Hiring Requirements 61 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 61 Mitigate risk to the organization through process management ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with Thermo Fisher Scientific policies, standards, and applicable laws in the area of Customs. 61 Keep abreast of pertinent regulations, interpret regulations, and determine what is relevant for the organization, update all functions affected and implement appropriately. Provide advice and counsel in all areas related import and export, as a subject matter expert. 61 Communication with Customs and other governmental authorities on all matters pertaining to customs and import and export regulations and develop working relationships with government agencies. 61 Develop strategy for applying/maintaining AEO certificates to support business. 61 Initiate audits and internal assessments, including post-entry audits of all import and export entries, completion of post audit follow-up actions and evaluate common themes in audits and develop programs to proactively address issues across sites in China. 61 Participate in investigations, audits, or disclosures regarding the company's import and, export activities in China. Support Customs audit defense and strategy development. 61 Assist the leader in developing local strategies to support compliance with US export regulations and corporate and local global trade compliance management systems. Support to handle customer issues related to ongoing export control and sanctions due diligence screening and review of transactions. 61 Collaborate closely with the Corporate GTC Team to channel communications and training to relevant personnel within the region and advance issues as necessary. 61 Other works assigned by the leaders.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: 61 Bachelor’s degree in Transportation/Logistics, Business, or International Trade, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. 61 8+ years of experience in compliance management within a multi-national company, with proven experience managing compliance activities. 61 Proficiency in the local language and English. 61 Extensive knowledge and expertise in Greater China HS classification, FTA, customs valuation, and Transfer Pricing. 61 Strong problem-solving skills and the ambition to learn and use PPI to improve processes. 61 Demonstrate Thermo Fisher Scientific values – Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement. 61 Excellent analytical and statistical skills. 61 Excellent teamwork skills. 61 Experience with U.S. Export Control will be a plus.
