Job Summary: We are looking for a Technical Application Engineer for Syensqo’s solvent extraction technical organization in Africa (based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, covering the regional SX market). The role will support new and existing customers and regional projects by providing technical assistance and expertise. The position will collaborate closely with technical and commercial teams to promote new and existing chemistries and contribute to knowledge creation, transfer, and training on SX-EW topics. Responsibilities: Provide technical support to new and existing customers. Analyze data and offer recommendations to optimize solvent extraction processes. Assist commercial teams in introducing new products to the industry with technical support. Identify and propose solutions to address unmet customer needs. Ensure strict adherence to safety (SHE), quality, and regulatory requirements. Support continuous improvement initiatives in safety, zero defect, customer focus, and operational efficiency. Travel to mine sites to conduct chemical and physical audits of solvent extraction units. Conduct modeling and analytical test work in a laboratory setting to identify appropriate SX applications. Prepare and present test data reports to customers and technical teams. Provide training and introduce new products to customers, including on-site visits (travel up to 60%). Comply with safety, quality, customer, and regulatory standards. Requirements: A Bachelor’s or Engineering degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field. Knowledge of solvent extraction operations, chemistry, and testing methods (preferred). A proven track record in innovation and problem-solving. Experience in hydrometallurgy (preferred). Proficiency in Google and Microsoft platforms. Fluency in English and Chinese (spoken and written). Strong public speaking and communication skills. Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams. A valid driver’s license. Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed to achieve key objectives. Additional information: Work environment: Office & customer plant sites. Travel: Required (up to 60% in the Democratic Republic of the Congo ). Reporting relationship: Reports directly to the Area Technical Manager EMEA and interacts regularly with the technical team, laboratory personnel, and regional commercial team, as well as other global support functions.
