Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) Industry: Mining Machinery, Wind Power, and Related Heavy Industries
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to ensure the quality and reliability of components, materials, and services provided by suppliers in the mining machinery, wind power, and related heavy industries. The SQE will play a critical role in maintaining and improving the quality standards of our supply chain, ensuring compliance with company specifications, industry regulations, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Quality Management:
Conduct supplier assessments and audits to evaluate their capabilities, processes, and adherence to quality standards. Develop and implement supplier quality improvement plans to address deficiencies and enhance performance. Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and drive corrective actions.
Quality Assurance and Control:
Review technical specifications, drawings, and quality requirements for components used in mining machinery and wind power systems. Perform incoming quality inspections and testing on critical parts and materials. Monitor supplier performance metrics (e.g., defect rates, delivery times) and provide regular reports to management.
Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis:
Lead investigations into quality defects or non-conformances using structured methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, or Fishbone Analysis. Work closely with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing) to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Track and verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Compliance and Standards:
Ensure suppliers comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001) and customer-specific requirements. Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices related to mining machinery and wind power equipment.
Collaboration and Communication:
Act as the primary liaison between the company and its suppliers regarding quality-related matters. Provide training and guidance to suppliers on quality systems, processes, and expectations. Communicate quality goals, progress, and challenges to internal stakeholders and senior management.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. Implement and maintain quality management tools such as FMEA, SPC, and PPAP.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma) are a plus. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supplier quality engineering role, preferably in heavy industries such as mining machinery, wind power, or similar sectors. Proven track record of managing supplier relationships and driving quality improvements. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control techniques. Familiarity with CAD software, statistical analysis tools, and quality management systems (e.g., SAP, QMS). Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities. Language: Proficiency in English is required; additional language skills (e.g., Chinese, German) are advantageous.
