POSITION SUMMARY: (Summary description of the primary duties and objectives)
Component Quality Engineers role main scope is to qualify, monitor and improve the quality of the operational processes and outputs of the local key component suppliers. The Component Quality Engineer's responsibilities include supporting localization of key components, capability development of key components suppliers, improvement of component quality related processes (internal and external), following up corrective actions, contributing in GPD process. The Component Quality Engineer should have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to ensure that processes and parts consistently meet established quality standards. POSITION PROFILE (Major duties, accountabilities, and responsibilities) 1. General and Task Management: a. Developing and implementing quality standards, i.e. create dedicated technology audit checklists for specific key component suppliers b. Perform qualification audit during new component supplier introduction process. c. Monitoring and analyzing quality performance and quality capability of key components suppliers, including star rating, APQP scores, Product & Facility Audits, Testing, etc. FPY (*** pass yield), defective return, warranty/repair/replacement, etc. Establish and Maintain quality dashboard for key components suppliers d. Work with Engineering and Testing Leaders to define process capabilities that are required to meet product and process requirements, so those capabilities can be developed. e. Develop quality capabilities of key components suppliers - a. Equipment, system, process & procedure b. Promote and drive the use of quality tools such as DFSS, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), PPAP, Risk Analysis, Root-cause, etc. f. Manage all new product launches from the component perspective to ensure designs and all related documentation are capable of delivering the required quality standards and consumer satisfaction. g. Investigating and troubleshooting component related quality issues, manage overall root cause analysis and corrective actions process of component related field quality issues. h. Build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders and champion continuous improvement initiatives across BISSELL’s product portfolio. i. Monitor and report to management product quality risks and any commercial issues and impacts. j. Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the development of new products, manufacturing for components and potential product field issues - advise management of any impact k. Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices and future trends for design & product quality management. l. Dot line report to CQE EE Category Team Leader 2. Specific requirement a. Family with PCBA manufacturing process, testing, reliability and quality management b. Basic knowledge on BMS hardware and software c. Family with trouble shooting of PCBA or Battery Pack related quality problems. 3. Performs all other related duties as necessary.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: (i.e. degree, years of experience, etc.)
Degree minimum: Bachelor of Science degree
Specific concentration: Electronic, Mathematics, Physics, or other Sciences.
Experience level: 61 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role in PCBA industry.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: (i.e. certifications, etc.) 61 Consumer products experience or equivalent 61 Quality certifications, e.g. ASQ CQE, CQM, or equivalent 61 Six Sigma certification (Green or Black belt) 61 Working knowledge of electronics, connectivity (WIFI) 61 Experience with supplier assessment audits 61 Familiarity with UL1017 or similar agency requirements 61 Familiar with the Electrical Characteristics of Electronic Components 61 Understand the Requirements of IPC-A-610 & IPC-A-620
SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. ISO, PPAP, and other quality system knowledge 2. Good written communications in English. English speaking is a plus. 3. Strong analytical skills. 4. ISO, PPAP, and other quality system knowledge 5. Strong computer skills with a firm understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 6. Demonstrated team-building skills in an environment of managing through influence and persuasion rather than direct control. 7. Ability to keep perspective and not over react to situations. 8. Proactive rather than reactive to problems. 9. Willing to travel to existing and potential suppliers.
This position requires the ability to manage the flow of data, perform analysis, generate summary reports and communicate by voice or data while being connected in the office, at home or while travelling by laptop or mobile device regularly without regard to time zone or day of the week.
