Key Accountabilities & Activities Supplier and Factory Capability ● Induction of new supplier and review the capability to conclude if they can meet brand standards ● Sharing results & working towards continuous improvement of suppliers performance on the sample rejection locally as well as with UK office ● Assess and screen new factory to ensure that they can meet John Lewis and Waitrose brand standards. ● Manage a portfolio of factories to ensure the delivery of consistent technical & product quality and drive continuous improvement with the supply base. ● Plan & drive continuous improvement projects with suppliers with the help of quality metric data (Return rates, ADC reports, Star ratings, etc.). (HKSO) ● Assess capabilities; set and monitor quality controls and compliance procedures within current and new factories. (HKSO) Quality Assurance ● Technical management in intimates / lingerie. ● Build and maintain good working relationships with suppliers and all internal stakeholders. ● Ensure John Lewis quality technical processes, policies and requirements (inc. chemical compliance, serviceability, sustainability & costs) are communicated and understood by the supply base. (HKSO) ● When required, screen initial product briefs received from the UK and check for appropriate technical information. Translate and communicate to suppliers where necessary. ● When required, pre-screen proto/offer samples, ensuring JL and Waitrose requirements are met before sending them to the UK teams. ● Carry out quality risk assessment and root cause analysis of products (where applicable) to ensure key design inputs such as safety, legality, useability, reliability, manufacturability & performance are considered. Drive & validate product engineering discussions with suppliers, including use of preferred component suppliers and management. ● Responsible for following up all red seal approvals in the UK, ● Conducting pre-production meetings with suppliers. ● Review and check accuracy of information for packaging (Home), assembly/user instructions and care labels contents from suppliers. (HKSO) ● Perform garment fitting (Fashion). ● Working in tandem with Product Compliance Specialists in ensuring all product test certificates/technical folders are updated during product lifecycle and archived in the respective technical repository. ● As and when required, ensure during production checks are conducted, and all pre-shipment inspections are completed at supplier/ factory locations either through 3rd party service providers, in coordination with the Factory Quality Compliance Specialists or conducting them in person. (HKSO) ● Approve gold seal samples for mass production. ● Working closely with Global Technical & Compliance Data Specialist on monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. ● Working closely with the UK Product Development Technologists in performing technical assessment on product quality performance and post-market product quality analysis. ● Monitor and action post product launch field performance and if problems arise, work on failure root cause analysis, corrective action development resolution verification. ● Act as a single point of contact between the UK team and suppliers for all quality/technical related topics. ● Setting improvements, targets for respective buying groups. ● Horizon scanning of regulations, standards and innovations. ● Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
