JOB OVERVIEW: 61 Leads New Product Introduction (NPI) design engineering resources and sustaining engineering resources for NPI and product lifecycle management. 61 Drives the spirit of innovation into the organization to design and launch differentiated connector products 61 Provides hands-on technical leadership through the product development cycle and recommends design approaches as required. 61 Drives continuous improvement to reduce NPI cycle time & improve on-time & on-budget delivery of product development. 61 Ensure close coordination of engineering teams with manufacturing development & quality engineers throughout in the development process to identify and address design for manufacturability challenges 61 Enforce the proper usage of advanced quality planning tools in the development, like DFMEA and FEA (structural and rheological) to identify design risks early on and mitigation strategies 61 Implements the technology and product strategy for key product platforms 61 Ensure project execution is on time, on budget and on quality to committed project execution contracts 61 Assesses technical risk and compliance across all aspects of product platform 61 Management of departmental goals and objectives, regular employee conversations with purpose, and year-end evaluation processes, as well as ensuring continuous development of necessary and evolving skills in the product development function 61 Plans and manages operational budget 61 Develops the organization in support of operational strategy 61 Fosters a continuous improvement atmosphere, as a learning organization 61 Drives continuous improvement to reduce NPI cycle time & improve on-time & on-budget delivery of product development.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 61 Must have a minimum of an Bachelor's degree in a discipline of Engineering 61 Minimum of 7 years’ experience within an Engineering / Manufacturing environment with project responsibilities associated with product or process development, and/or project management, ideally with renewable, energy, and connector products with 3 years’ experience lead engineering teams 61 Ability to develop connectors to meet critical global standards, such as ANSI, UL, IEEE, and IEC 61 Component material selection to optimize strength, electrical insulation, stability, and longevity, while meeting the product and standard requirements 61 Deep knowledge of product development processes in a stage-gate approach 61 A professional level of business acumen 61 A strong understanding of manufacturing processes combined with good technical awareness 61 Experience in designing stamped parts and high precision plastic injection molding component is an advantage 61 Possesses high degree of initiative, technical competence, engineering process knowledge and strong communication skills 61 Adapts/makes departures from traditional approaches to enhance value in both new and existing methods and products 61 Fluent communication with own team, customers, internal senior business leaders and technology leaders in English 61 LDFSS or DMAIC 6-sigma black or green belt an advantage
