Position Overview: The Director of Operation Planning and Supply Chain Management will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operational planning and supply chain processes across four critical sub-departments: Physical Material Flow and Packaging, Inventory Control, Planning/Demand, and Supply Chain Management. This role is essential to ensure seamless production flow, optimal inventory levels, accurate demand forecasting, and efficient supply chain operations, contributing to the overall efficiency and profitability of the organization.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Physical Material Flow and Packaging: - Oversee and manage the physical flow of materials from suppliers through to production lines. - Develop and implement strategies to optimize material handling, storage, and transportation. - Ensure packaging solutions are efficient, cost-effective, and meet quality standards. - Collaborate with logistics and production teams to minimize disruptions and enhance material flow. 2. Inventory Control: - Establish and maintain inventory control policies and procedures. - Monitor inventory levels to ensure they are aligned with production needs and company goals. - Implement inventory management systems and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency. - Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and reduce waste. 3. Planning / Demand: - Lead the demand planning process to accurately forecast customer requirements. - Work closely with sales, marketing, and production teams to align demand forecasts with production capabilities. - Develop and implement production planning strategies that optimize resource utilization. - Monitor market trends and adjust plans to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities. 4. Supply Chain Management: - Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and products - Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with company objectives. - Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring high-quality and reliable supply. - Monitor supply chain performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. - Manage supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions.
69 General Responsibilities: - Provide leadership and direction to sub-department managers to achieve departmental goals. - Develop and manage budgets for each sub-department, ensuring cost-effective operations. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of operation planning and supply chain management. - Utilize data analytics to make informed decisions and improve operational efficiency. - Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the operation planning and supply chain management team. - Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies. - Prepare and present reports on operational planning and supply chain performance to senior management Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum of 10 years of experience in operational planning and/or supply chain management within the automotive or manufacturing industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. - Proven experience in managing material flow, inventory control, demand planning, and supply chain operations. - Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive decision-making. - Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. - Proficiency in ERP systems and inventory management software. - Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
