Purpose of the Position: Lead firing team to ensure the efficiency of the firing and handling operation in both process and systems areas. Continuous improvement of the firing and handling operation to minimize costs and optimize capacity utilization.
Day to Day Responsibilities: Take responsibility of kiln and handling (including kiln handling, green and fired handling) areas. Establish rigorous process control and discipline for daily firing process operations, including determining appropriate data collection, process monitoring, control methods, etc. Lead or provide appropriate support on process issues investigation and analysis, solutions and permanent corrective actions implementation. Direct firing process engineers to make continuous improvements and control process variation. Responsible for maintaining environmental protection conditions in the area in cooperation with the person in charge of environmental protection. Establish the process and criteria for firing operators and technicians’ training and certification. Hold reports accountable for adherence to established procedures and setpoints for process control. Control effective implementation of process or equipment changes. Plan, direct, or lead projects to ensure effective implementation – achieving objectives, completing on time and controlling budget. Provide immediate supervision to subordinates to execute assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Review team performance and provide feedback to team members, and provide coaching as needed. Build effective relations and interactions with internal customers and stakeholders.
Education & Experience BS/MS degree in ceramics; Engineering for ceramic thermal or silicate processing is a plus. 5+ years working experience on process in related industry. 2+ years supervisory experience. Solid project management experience preferred. Ceramic and/or extrusion experience preferred. Work experience in multi-national companies preferred.
Required Skills Supervisory Skills Rational thinking of troubleshooting skill, experience of KT, DMAIC etc. Project management skills Have good understanding of ceramic manufacturing process and rich experience in product introduction and process improvement. Statistical analysis knowledge is required, for instance: PFMEA, hypothesis test, DOE, commonality analysis etc., MiniTab or JMP software experience. Fluency in oral and written English
Desired Skills Green Belt. Track record for MEE/PEx project leadership Good understanding of Product Quality Architecture.
