Position Overview Commodity Manager Mechanical in Magna International Purchasing Asia Team takes the major responsibility for identification and execution of synergy cost reductions across Magna’s Groups, as well as the establishment, implementation, and constant improvement of commodity and supplier strategy of these mechanical categories.
Job Responsibility Synergy identification, promotion, implementation and realization 61 Dive deep into the demand of the types of mechanical commodities from different Groups of Magna, and identify opportunities for volume bundling, specification standardization, etc 61 Effectively promote potential synergy projects, establish project teams across groups, and proactively organize cross-groups discussions 61 Set up cost saving targets and timelines, define implementation measures 61 Lead and conduct internal and external benchmarking, bundling bidding, negotiations, till finalization of contracts 61 Drive the executions in Groups, and monitor the actualization of the negotiation results 61 Report to regional and global team regularly the progress and results Commodity strategy formation and execution 61 Conduct internal demand analysis cross Groups 61 Conduct external supply market study, and current supply base study cross Groups 61 Define category positioning, and supplier strategy 61 Deep dive into cost drivers and define cost saving measures in strategy paper and constantly the implementation of the measures 61 Support global strategy development by providing Asia input 61 Organize technical events (technology workshop, innovation days, etc) with suppliers and capture supplier enabled innovations 61 Establish and maintain the supply market intelligence, like price indicator for the commodity managed and its raw materials, supply market S/D dynamics, etc. Project and operational tasks 61 Support oversea Divisions/Groups to source Asia/China suppliers. 61 Help oversea Divions/Groups to launch RFQs, negotiate price, payment terms, contracts etc (when needed) Others 61 Perform other tasks/ projects as required in balance of workloads and development of multiple tasked team competence 61 Reasonably judge, identify, and properly handle all the personal information involved in work, learn and master the relevant policies and procedures for Magna's data privacy and personal information management.
Qualifications Knowledge and Education: Bachelor's degree or above Work Experience 61 Minimum 10 years purchasing experiences in multi-national automotive companies 61 Minimum 7 years experience managing mechanical commodities from strategy to execution 61 Hands on experiences in driving synergy cost reduction projects cross business units will be preferred Skills and Competencies 61 Self-motivated, 61 Proactive and persuasive communication 61 Strong willingness to learn new things, and able to learn fast 61 Systematic thinking, ability to see overview as well as details 61 Commodity strategy building and execution skills 61 Good English skill in both speaking and writing 61 Travel approximately 30%
