About the team The Sourcing Clothing Technical team is responsible for ensuring our products are safe, legal and meet our high standards. We ensure that our processes and best practices are followed within our Tesco-approved sites. We strive to partner with and empower trusted suppliers to deliver our high standards. We work in partnership with them to monitor their performance, regardless of whether they are new to us or we have longstanding relationships, and we focus on developing, supporting and training their team members to consistently manufacture products that meet / exceed Tesco standards. We do this through best-in-class quality control and assurance.
About the role This role will report to our Head of Technical – Clothing, Asia & European Sourcing and make up a core part of our Clothing Technical Leadership Team. You will lead a team of three Production Technologists (two in Shanghai, one in Shandong) supporting them to set goals, providing guidance and ensuring that they are working effectively with each other and other teams to achieve their objectives, at the same as coaching and empowering them to grow and develop their careers. You will be responsible for problem-solving within complex situations across our supply base, thinking creatively & utilising the expertise of your team to find the best solutions. The role requires critical thinking and a deep understanding of technical concepts and factory processes and standards. We drive a culture of continuous improvement as industry is ever-changing and you will have the chance to learn about current trends and developments within your field, as well as expand your skill knowledge with the support of team members from other regions around the world. An ability to work within a fast-paced and varied environment is crucial.
You will be responsible for - Overseeing technical processes including Fits, Pre-production, Green seal, Final Inspection in line with Tesco requirements. - Implementing strategic and operational plans for our products and suppliers to conform to our policies, standards and specifications. - Driving F&F systems implementation at every stage of product development & ensuring product rules are closely followed by the team. - Leading the review and analysis of internal and external reports to identify areas for improvement and minimize any foreseeable risks to the brand. - Overseeing the onboarding of factories ensuring that they meet our expectation in order to protect our brand. - Driving all F&F factories to achieve the Tesco Manufacturing Standard audit standard and ensuring all Non-Conformities’ are closed on time. - Ensuring firewall audits are conducted by the team to calibrate self-certified suppliers in order to achieve Tesco quality standards. - Managing suppliers sample rooms evaluations in order to meet and deliver the correct samples for F&F. - Leading and coaching the Shanghai Clothing Technical team to deliver against Key Performance Indicators, objectives and implementing corrective action plans. - Identifying & arranging required trainings for our suppliers to ensure they meet Tesco’s sampling requirements testing and quality standards. - Managing the technical team’s participation in buying trip meetings to assess products and to provide technical inputs and support. - Developing supplier's capabilities and that suppliers have Tesco Certified Quality Controller, Tesco Certified Garment Technologist, Tesco Certified Shoe Technologies and managing their performance through the technical team. - Encouraging and driving supplier empowerment by identifying and recommending strategic partners who can be capable of self-approval status.
