Canadian Tire retailer is looking for merchandiser focused on Sports categories under Playing division. The candidate will locate in the Shanghai sourcing office and is the Category Specialists responsible for sourcing quality merchandise from appropriate vendors to achieve CTR’s strategy and objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support, integrate & reinforce CTR’s strategy, policies, workflows, and objectives across the following:
Results Orientation
83 Achieving corporate objectives such as POS, Purchases, EGM % and $, Import Penetration %, Out Of China sourcing.
83 Ability to influence appropriate level of counter part of making decisions (Buyers/Managers/CBMs/AVPs at both Merch and other Cross Functional teams)
83 Provide sourcing expertise on vendor landscape, product knowledge, build category expertise as well as market intelligence for given categories.
83 Adhere to process (MPFA, PFA, BSCI evaluation, PLI, Terms communication etc)
83 Negotiate best costs, resolve issues, and consolidate existing vendors following the sourcing strategy.
83 Extend current vendor base to include suppliers locate outside of China.
83 Support QA & QE to lead vendors in improving their performance through sharing of relative data analysis and having regular communication via vendor meetings or visits to reinforce their customer understanding & CTR strategy.
Project management
83 Lead new line review projects development and timeline management with Category Business Managers or Buyers, Branding & Product Development teams, all cross functional teams (QA compliance, Engineers and SCOA) & vendors, try every means to meet key line review milestones.
83 Deeply involved in the whole process of new product development, from new vendor sourcing, concept feasibility evaluation & discussion, quotations, sample, and tooling, to pre and mass production, to ensure full visibility and on time delivery.
83 Dedication into details, work actively on risk assessment from product development stage, and be proactive and initiatives to solve problems during the project development.
83 Engage support from Assistant Merchandiser as necessary
Buying trip management
Organize and follow up the seasonal buying trips by close communication with Category Business Managers and vendors, effective preparation and execution in transportation arrangement, meeting organization, offers & samples, trip follow up afterwards until project delivery to stores.
83 Work with the Buyer / Category Business Managers (CBM) on their trip 83 Get business review Goals & Objectives, search new vendors, collect quotation, and arrange necessary benchmark test done upfront before trip starts. 83 Arrange meetings between Buyer / Category Business Managers (CBM) & vendors 83 Arrange hotel accommodation & transportation. 83 Trace samples and finish quotes analysis prior to trip 83 Involve and influence discussions, meetings, and sample selection during the trip with buyers or CBMs. 83 Prepare trip reports 83 Follow up and execute per trip decisions.
QUALIFICIATION REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following: 61 University degree, more than 5 years of sourcing and product development management experience. 61 Have passion for sports. Solid merchandising experience in Sports related categories is preferred. 61 Strong ownership and technical skill in new product development. 61 Multi projects management and prioritization skill. 61 Ability to complete tasks in an efficient & effective manner. 61 Strong negotiation skills, cost analysis skills are required. 61 Attention to details. 61 Strong & creative problem solver. 61 Good communication and team collaboration spirit. 61 Interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a matrixed organization. 61 Good oral and written skills in both Mandarin & English. 61 Able to travel extensively. 61 On Time execution. 61 Good at Microsoft Office especially Excel operation & data analysis.
